*Zinc was first recognized as an element in 1776 by Andreas Marggraf, in India.*Zinc was used by the greeks and romans in 20 BC.*Zinc was being refined from 1100 to 1500 in Asia.*In 1668, Flemish metallurgist, P. Moras de Respour, reported the extraction of Zinc from Zinc Oxide.

*Zinc is used in rubber which goes into making shoes, tires, and wiring for electrical circuits.*I use fluorescent lights and batteries in my house.*Plastic is used for many things all around us.*Zinc is important because it makes up the metal plates for cars, brass in instruments, wiring used in electric devices, galvanizing is used to decrease the process of rusting in metals, and zinc is used in soaps.
