Yellow Light Project

Once I added my reaction time with my breaking time, I found the Yellow light going north on Concord road through Wilson Pike to be safe. I found that under dry conditions my vehicle can stop in 2.78 seconds and under wet conditions it is 3.18 seconds. If the light lasts for 3.9 seconds then this light is safe by a longshot. The city of brentwood has made theiir traffic lights safe.

With my first calculation, I found the normal force by multiplying the mass of the car with the acceleration. The force of friction was found by multiplying the normal force and the coefficient of friction. Momentum was found with multiplying mass times velocity. Final momentum is always 0. Impulse is the same as force of friction. Time to stop was solved by change in momentum divided by force of friction.
