YCJA Case Project

Young Offender Jim got into a fight with another boy his age,during the fight Jim took out his pocket knife and stabbed him.

Step 1

Soon after the inccident, police arrived and took Jim into custody. The officer checked his criminal records, which said that he had been warned before. So the officer pressed charges.

Step 3

The YCJA was very fair and equitable because it gave Jim a second chance and never released his name so it would not effect his future.

The officer decides the crime is serious enough to be taken to court. So Jim has to go to court for agressive behavior and assault.The officer recommended that Jim should go for counseling with the John Howard Soceity.

After hearing what the the lawyers said in the defence of Jim. The Judge gave Jim an adult sentence of community service and counselling,Jim`s name was not released to the public.

Was the YCJA Fair and Equitable?

Jim did his months of community service and counseling with John Howard Society and sucessfully completed the course.
