The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWFN) is an international non-governmental organization founded on April 29, 1961, and is working on issues regarding the conservation, research and restoration of the environment. It was formerly named the World Wildlife Fund, which remains its official name in Canada and the United States.

The history of the World Wide Fund for Nature, better known by the acronym: WWF - Worldwide Fund for Nature, one of the most renowned environmental NGOs in the world, begins in the 60s. More precisely in 1961, when a group of scientists concerned with the devastation of nature created the WWF, Switzerland. To date, it is in this country that is the headquarters. On September 11, 1961, the World Wildlife Foundation was established in Zurich as a public organization.It went from a small group of nature defenders of a worldwide network of environmental protection. The network is supported by people from different backgrounds, with the same objective: to ensure the preservation of the planet we live on.
