After Germany is defeated in WWI, harsh terms are opposed against the Germans. Repartions from the war have ruined Germanys economy with hyperinflation. Bitterness is instricted into their hearts, and only one man will show them the way out
Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler came into power when Germany was in great dispair. He promised to help the German people and to restore Germany to what it once was. Hitler breaks the Treaty of Versailles when he builds an army. European Nations held negotiations with Hitler to prevent a war. Hitler breaks the Munich Agreement and invades poland! War is declared. Hitler and Nazi Germany invade eastern Europe and betrays Stalin by inavding the Soviet Union.
Franklin D. Roosevelt lends aid to the British, but does not want to get involved...
Attack on Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941 Japan attacks Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. U.S. delcares war on Japan and Germany. Begins naval battles and island hopping under McArthur.
Invasion of Normandy
The Allied forces invade Normandy on June 6, 1944. Aloso known as "D-Day". They had been planning the invasion for months. Largest sea and land invasion in history. The Allies suffered loses, but pushed through the Axis powers
Spring of 1945
After Hitlers last stand at the Battle of the Bulge, Germany beseiged. The Allies began post-war planning. Germany surrendered and Hitler committed suicide. The Pacific Campaign still continues between the U.S. and Japan.
Pacific Campaign
The Island Hopping Campaign continues and takes Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The question is though, will the U.S. invade Japan? The U.S. knew too many men would die and after FDRs death and Truman took over as president, a secret was revealed. Truman found out about the Manhattan project in which nuclear weapons were being forged. Truman gave the clearance on what would change the world..... dropping bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan surrenders and Allies are victorious
End of WWII marks the beginning of the Cold War
The Holocaust
During World War II, Hitler and the Nazis sentenced Jews to concentration camps since the Nazis believed them to be the problem. Inside of the concenration camps would be hell. Many were killed upon entrance, taken away from their families, beaten, tortured, starved, and treated as if they were less than human. Approximately 11 million were killed in the Holocaust which consisted of the Jews, elderly, blind, deaf, and handicapped. The infamous concentration camp, Auschwitz, was liberated by Allies in January 27, 1945
