World War 2

A timeline for the biggest and most deadly war that happened on this planet. This includes events that caused, occured, and ended the war as we knew it.

Time Line

1939

The Fall of Poland

May 10 1940France falls to Germany. This would give Germany control of all of the European mainland. The only opposition to Germany after this is Great Britain.

December 7 1941The United States is bombed by Japan at Pearl Harbor. This brought the U.S. into the war. The U.S. would become the turning point for the Allies

The U.S. bombs Japan with nuclear missiles at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan would surrender on August 15 but the offiacial end to the war was September 2. The was the mostly costly war of lives, money, and resources ever.

June 6 1944The invasion of Normandy France was a combined attack on Germany by the Allies. This began the decline of Germany's power.

The Soviet Union had been engaged with German forces during this time. A major victory at Stalingrad led to the Soviet Union pushing Germany.

September 1 1939Germany invades Poland. This causes Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany two days later.

May 8 1945Germany surrenders to the allies. Aliies achieve total victory in Europe. Day known as VE day.
