World Forests Day
By Lídia Vicente Sánchez
Did you know that 13 million hectares of forest are destroyed annually?Deforestation accounts for 12 to 20 percent of the global greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.Forests cover one third of the Earth's land mass, performing vital functions around the world. Around 1.6 billion people - including more than 2,000 indigenous cultures - depend on forests for their livelihood.
Forests are the most biologically-diverse ecosystems on land, home to more than 80% of the terrestrial species of animals, plants and insects. Here, at Divina Providencia School, we're trying to raise 750 € to reforest a hole forest of 120 trees.
Will you help us yo raise money on World Forests Day?·If we gave 25€, we coulld reforest one tree.·If we gave 200€ we can protect 100 trees from cutting them.·If we sign a petition, the government can help us.·If we reduce our footprint, we will save lots of trees.
Please give generously to help us reach our goal. If we don't take action 35000 hectareas of forest will be detroyed every day.Thank you!
