AboutThe WASPs were formed in August of 1943 from two different aviation groups: the Women's Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron (WAFS) and the Women's Flying Training Detatchment (WFTD). The WASPs were comprised of civilian women pilots who volunteered their time to the service of our country. They were the first women in history trained to fly American military aircraft during WWII.Click the link to see the different uniforms worn by the WASPs: http://www.wingsacrossamerica.us/wasp/gallery/wasp_uniforms.htm
