William Shakespeare:1564-1616William Shakespeare was a well known English playwriter, actor and poet.He married Anne Hathaway in 1582 and had three children.Shakespeare was part of the London Theatre scene in 1592.His plays were performed only by the Lord Chamberlins Company in 1594.Shakespeare himself acted in this play.He coninued writing until 1613 and died three years later in 1616.
William Shakespeare accomplished many things in his short life.After Queen Elizabeth 1 died in 1603, King James 1 issued a royal patent to the company, and it was renamed the King's Men. The company built a new theatre called the Globe in 1599, and Shakespeare became very rich through this process.In 1594, Shakespeare's plays began to be published and in 1598, his name appeared on the title pages of the works."Words he coined are an intrinsic part of the English vocabulary." - Encyclopaedia Britannica's Guide to Shakespeare
