Why were festivals important in the middle ages

Why were festivals important in the middle ages?

Feasts!

Riches

Festivals are an ancient idea. They were held to celebrate important events throughout the year. These events included harvests the changeover of seasons and religiously significant dates.

Festivals were also important in the middle ages because they were the main form of entertainment. There were no TV so people went to festivals around their area whenever they could to have fun.

Festivals were important because during festivals people higher up on the hierarchy could show their wealth and power by holding lavish parties with food and entertainment. The more extravagant the better.

Fun for everyone
