Why Sports Is Good For You

Kids who play outside on a daily basis “become fitter, develop stronger immune systems, have more active imaginations, have lower stress levels, and play more creatively” (Outdoor Play Benefits). There are huge risk factors for children and adolescences that are obese. The CDC says that the effects of the obese youth are more likely to have risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure and that obese adolescents are more likely to have prediabetes.

Higher grades and attainment, greater connections with school, stronger friendships, greater family attachment and more academically oriented friends” (Overview and Cost of Youth Sports). The opportunity to play sports at the collegiate level and to be awarded a sports scholarship. “More than 90% of the NCAA’s revenue goes to support student-athletes”

Throughout the U.S. there are a wide variety of athletic programs,but many of them are being cut. These programs whether in or outside schools offer a lot for those involved. They keep students physically and mentally strong, they learn social skills, and also have less behavior problems. Not only that, but they can open tons of doors to opportunities like scholarships or a prestigious traveling team and cutting the programs locks so many of those doors.
