Why I want to be a Teacher

Why I want to be a Teacher

My biggest influence was my old high school geometry teacher, Mr. McKain. He really inspired me to go and try to mentor and guide students who were struggling in the class. This led me to want to go and become a mentor. Later in college, when I decided that engineering was not what I wanted to do with my life, I decided to reach out to Mr. McKain and he said that I should try to go for education. If it would not have been for his mentoring and guidance I would not be where I am today.

I want to become a teacher because I want to make a lasting impact on the lives of the students. I want to give the students a good foundation of math to grow on and life lessons to help them succeed in the future. I want to help them learn to grow and become something greater and better than they wanted to be. I want to inspire and to have them become something I can be proud that I helped them become that.

I have been tutoring kids for a while now. I started doing it in high school. I began teaching kids math in class that were having trouble with the concepts. Now in college I mentor some students who are having trouble succeeding in school. I now give them the motivation and tools they need to succeed. I am very proud of the work that I do and I want to continue it.

Another person who inspired me was my track coach. He taught me life lessons and determination that have kept me going. He inspired me to work to finish with high grades in school and to try hard in college. This was important to me because I do not think I would have got so far without these lessons.

This reminds me to be successful every day. Its a photo of me from high school. My father took this photo of me.
