Who is Lucy?
-Lucy is an ancient fossil of a hominid species called australopithecus afarensis -She is believed to be just less than 3.18 million years old-Lucy is a female-When she died she was a young adult-Her name is from the song "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" by the Beatles when scientists were celebrating her discovery -Lucy was found by Donald Johanson and Tom Gray on November 24, 1974, at the site of Hadar in Ethiopia.
-Humans evolved over the course of 6 million years-There are an estimated 15 to 20 different species of hominids-Humans descended mainly from chimpanzees and apes -One of the earliest known human species is sahelanthropus tchadensis -Bipedalism, the ability to walk on two legs, originated 4 million years ago-Culture, religion, and art developed 100,000 years ago-Agriculture and the first civilizations formed about 12,000 years ago-The last species of humans are homo sapiens
