Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born on August 9, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey. She was born into a musical family. She was the cousin of Dionne Warwick and the Goddaughter of Aretha Franklin. She was also the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston. She had 2 brothers named Gary and Michael. When Whitney got older she got more fascinated into music . She started her music career in church at the age of 5. When she turned 11, she came out with her first performance. She sang her first song called "Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah". She attended a girls catholic high school, and she met her best friend Robyn Crawford there. She graduated when she was 19. Her parents told her that she couldn't sing a record deal until she graduated. She was found singing in her mother's nightclub by Clive Davis. She got signed on the spot. When she started her actual music career, it took aproximately 2 years to produce her first album "Whitney Houston". After a hard work of music, Whitney Houston won her a grammy for her two hits "Saving All My Love For You" and "How Will I Know". The award was presented by her cousin Dionne Warwick. This happened when she was 22 years old. She wasn't just a singer, she was a film actress. She played Rachel Marron in her first movie " The Bodyguard". Kevin Costner picked one of Dolly Parton's old songs " I Will Always Love You", and Whitney made a big hit out of it. She even won a image award for that song. " The Bodyguard" which was in 1992 was a big hit movie worldwide. Another big event happened in 1992. She married R&B singer Bobby Brown and gave birth to their only daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown in 1993. After working with The Bodyguard, Whitney took the role of Savannah on Waiting to Exhale. Waiting to Exhale had a big soundtrack including her hit song Exhale, Shoop Shoop. That was the most relaxing songs that she ever made in her career. She also portrayed Julia on The Preacher's Wife. She made a big soundtrack out of that too, including one of her hit songs " I Believe In You And Me". She conversated with Dianne Sawyer in 2002, and admitted that she was doing drugs. People rumored that she had to go to rehab. She also talked about her rocky marraige with Bobby Brown. Before they divorced, they came out with their reality show " Being Bobby Brown" in 2005. They divorced in 2007 because of a drug-fueled marraige. Speaking of drugs, Whitney Houston was found dead in a Beverly Hills Hotel room. Most people said the cause of death was drowning with a heart disease, and she had cocaine in her system. She died on February 11, 2012 before the grammy awards. Before her death she made her last appearance in Hollywood, California to sing " Jesus Loves Me" with singer Kelly Price. A funeral service was held on February 18, 2012, and ended her funeral with " I Will Always Love You". She was buried by her father, John Houston who died in 2003 the next day. Whitney Houston was a great singer and film actress, and she dreamed of being one.After a hark work of doing music for the first two years Whitney won a grammy the next year.Whitney worked on a recording contract on her own even though it was hard.She never gave up even when people critisized her.She did what God wanted her to do, and that was to be a singer.
