White Coat, Black Hat

White Coat, Black Hat Adventures on the Dark Side of MedicineBy: Carl Elliot

Carl Elliott in White Coat, Black Hat, talks about many important issues about understanding biomedical research and how to do them in an ethical way. Elliott, instead of making it look like ethicists, come in and solve the problem, he writes about them contributing to the problem, rather than sorting it out. There are only 6 chapters to this book that talk about the topic of ethics and pharmaceutical industries. This book helps a person understand modern medicine and it is a current look on bioethics.

Bioethics is the study of controversial ethics brought about by advances in biology and medicine.

Carl Elliot is the main character in the book. There are other people mentioned in the book but Carl Elliot is talking about them and focusing on them. He introduces people from the production line Big Pharma along the way.

Carl Elliot moved around from place to place. He is a professor at the Center for Bioethics at the University of Minnesota.

I would recommend this book to anyone taking a medical course or bioethics. It has a lot of good and interesting information about those fields. Also, I recommend it to people everywhere. People go to doctors so that would be interesting for them to know about this subject also.
