Scientists actually know very little about sleep or why we sleep. From what we do know, we know that sleep leads to improved physical performance and abilities.

1) Physical state of reduced bodily functions typically associated with closed eyes and lying down. 2) Body temperature, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and glucose levels are less prevalent in red blood cells as they are not as needed as when awake to help bring these nutrients to your muscles (when in non-REM Sleep)
