The official definition of "mental disorder" is a mental or bodily condition marked primarily by sufficient disorganization of personality, mind, and emotions to seriously impair the normal psychological functioning of the individual—called also mental illness."nearly half of all americans will experiece a mental or emotional problem at least once during their lifetime that, if diagnosed, would be classified as a mental disorder " -R.C. Kessler and others 1994

What is defined as ''crazy"?

Changing Social NormsPsycologists try to be as scientific as possible when they look at psychological disorders. Most of the time what is abnormal or a disorder is less scientific, more to do with changing social norms and values. An example of this is homosexualtity. It was considered a mental disorder in 1952, it was called sexual orientation disturbance. It was removed in 1973 because of the change in the attitude in homosexual couples.

Some celebrities actions are acceptable to some but not to others

views on what is acceptable for men to do changes depending on where you are.

Some people feel or see people that aren't there, called Pareidolia.

Some people take tattoos and piercings farther than thought possible

Drugs have there effects on people physically, mentally, and socially
