California Gold Rush First began on Jan-uary 24, 1848 when when gold was found by James W. Marshall at Sutter's Mill in Coloma, California. The newsof gold brought around 300,000 people to California from the rest of the United States and abroad. Most people who arriv-ed were American but there we-re Latin Americans, Europeans,Australians, and Asains. The effects of the Gold Rush were positive.

Louisiana Purchase The United States bought land from France whichthe US paid them $15 milion.The land doubled the size of theUnited States at the time. This was a big step for westward e-xpansion. This meant that the United States would gain a lot of territory to increase industry and boost the economy.

Indian Removal Act American foreign po-licy throughout the nineteenthcentury worked to the disad-vantage of the Indians. TheCherokees, Creeks, Choct-aws, Chickasaws, and Sem-inoles were all treated badly and were forcefully removed from their land. They could-n't do anything about it.
