Wesleys pot plant

Scientific Name- Heliamphora ChimantensisPlant Group- Sarraceniaceae

Mostly ants, sometimes fly’s and other insects

It is like a green and pitcher like in structure and has a reddish leaf on top of the pitcher<-----

They attract prey (ants and other insects) through chemical and visual signals and trap and kill the insect through a pitfall trap.

It lives in- Venezuela/Guyana/Brazil on the plateaus of the Tepuis mountains Hot, humid, tropical climate

The pitcher/pitfall trap has evolutionized by the leaf curling into a pitcher with the ends sealed together

Because of heavy rains in the mountains there is a slit in the side of the pitcher to keep the water from overflowing and damaging the brittle structure
