WEATHER TYPES

HURRICANES

Hurricanes develop over warm, tropical water. Warm air moving over the ocean then rises rapidly, condenses, and releases energy.http://environment.nationalgeographic.com/environment/natural-disasters/hurricane-profile/

Tornadoes are the smallest and most violent storms. They form when a thunderstorm meets high altitude horizontal winds. The winds cause the warm, rising air in the thurnderstorm to rotate.

CYCLONES

LIGHTNING

A thunderstorm is produed by a cumulonimbus cloud, usually producing gusty winds, heavy rain and sometimes hail.www.srh.noaa.gov

Fog is a stratus cloud on the ground. Fog is produced by a horizontal motion of warm moist air over colder ground.https://www.tropicalweather.net/weather.html

Lightning is produced by a thunderstorm. It is an electric current. Many small bits of ice bump into each other as they move around in the air which forms electric charges. http://www.weatherwizkids.com/weather-thunderstorms.htm

Cyclones form in mid-latitudes where cold polar air meets warm tropical air. Midlatitude cyclones are areas of low pressure which have air moving toward the rising air of the low pressure region.

TORNADOES

Winter storms recieve their energy from the clash of two air masses of different temperatures and moisture levels. Winter storms usually form when an air mass of cold, dry, Canadian air moves south and interacts with a warm, moist air mass moving north.http://www.weatherwizkids.com/weather-winter-storms.htm

WINTER STORMS

As the warm air rises in the sky cools. When clouds develop, if they are big enough and have enough water droplets, the droplets grow and fall due to gravity.

RAIN

Dust storms are created by winds moving across an arid region. A strong dry cold front is the mchanism that creates the dust or sand storm.https://www.tropicalweather.net/weather.html

High pressure situations are generally assiocates with fair, sunny weather. When cummulus clouds are low in elevation, that indicates warm and sunny weather. https://www.tropicalweather.net/weather.html
