Weather Types

These are caused by an unstable balance of air and are formed through convection

Most form from thunderstorms and happen when warm and cold fronts meet.

Hail is a form of soild precipitation that is formed in thunderstorm clouds that have intense updraft, high water content, and below freezing temperatures.

Fog is formed when the difference between air temperature and dew point is less than 2.5 °C or 4 °F

Dust storms happen in dry areas and are caused by wind picking up loose particles of sand and dirt

These form in clouds where the temperature is below freezing

Sunny or clear skies are a result of high pressure areas. High pressure causes air to sink and dry out the atmosphere resulting in less moisture for clouds.

Lightning forms in electrically charged clouds

Types of Weather

Rain forms when water vapor in the air is warmed and then rises. This creates clouds that hold water droplets until they become too heavy and fall back to the Earth.

Dust storms

Thunderstorms

Sunny Skies

These occur when high pressure air pushes into low pressure areas and that air that is now warm and moist rises and cools to form a system of clouds, wind, and heat.
