"This island is ours, in someway we are young forever."
"I suffer migraines. I do not suffer fools"
The Sinclair family owns a private island, Beechwood, where the spend their summers along with their extended families. Cadence Eastman, Johnny Dennis, Mirren Sheffield, and Gat Patil have spent every summer on the island together since summer eight when they start being referred to as the Liars by the rest of the family. It is now summer 17 and the Liars are reunited but it is kind of difficult for Cadence to understand everything happening during the summer. Cadence, now almost 18, got into an accident the summer she was 15 and is having a tough time remembering the events from that time. Throughout the book it describes how she's trying to overcome and come to terms with what happened that summer. There is a big twist at the end that makes you question the whole book
