Washington's Government

Washington's Government

The Congress is made up of two houses, The Senate and The House of Representatives just like our government. The Congress is the building where all of the laws and decisions are made. In the centre of the building there is an amazing painting on the roof called the Rotunda. Under the Rotunda is where all of the dead presidents had their funerals ever since Abraham Lincoln passed away. The Senate has 100 members and out of the 100 senators two Senators represent them all. The vice president is the so called president of the Senate, the Vice president only votes to break a tie in an election. The House of Representatives holds 435 representatives, each of the states is entitled to have at least 1 representative. If a representative passes away or leaves during midterm a special election is held to choose a replacement.

Fun Facts:.Washington takes its name from it's first president, George Washington. .People that live in Washington are called Washingtonians.. Washington is also referred to District of Columbia..Washington's estimated population is 601,723 people. .People that live in Washington arn't allowed to vote in elections.

U.S Capital

The Statue of Freedom is a bronze statue that sits is the crowning feature of the United States Capital. The statue is meant to be a classical female with long flowing hair wearing a helmet with a crest composed of an eagle’s head and feathers. The helmet is has nine stars on it. She wears a classical dress with a brooch that says “U.S.” Over it there is a draped and heavy, flowing robe fringed with fur and decorative balls. Her right hand rests upon the top of a sharp sword wrapped in a scarf; in her left hand she holds a laurel wreath of victory and the shield of the United States with 13 stripes. She stands on a iron pedestal on a globe embroided with the motto E Pluribus Unum which means Out of many, one.

The Congress

The White House

The white house is not actually the place where all of the laws are made, The Congress is where all of the laws are made just like we explained about earlier. The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington. The White House was designed and built by James Hoban who was an Irish man. He built The White House was built between 1792 and 1800 and was made out of Aquia Creek sandstone.

My IIIP about Washington’s government will describe and explain about four main parts of the government there, The Congress (Were all of the Laws and decisions are made), The Statue of Freedom (A magnificent statue that the Government built during the war), The White House (The place where the President of the United States sits) and I’m also going to state the differences between our government and Washington’s government.
