Walter (Wally) Marty Schirra Jr. March 12, 1923-May 3, 2007
Wally Schirra was born on March 12, 1923 in Hackensack, New Jersey. Later, in 1945, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. After being a fighter pilot and operations officer, Schirra went to Naval flight school. Then he flew fighters in the Korean war. Wally Schirra is famous for flying in all three missions, Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. On October 3, 1962 he flew on MA-8 (Mercury-Atlas 8).On December 15, 1965 he flew on Gemini 6A with Thomas Stafford. Then on October 11, 1968 he flew on Apollo 7 with Walter Cunningham and Donn Eisele.
