Walk Two Moons is a book about a young girl named Salamanca Tree Hiddle. While on a long roadtrip from Ohio to Idaho with her grandparents to find her mother, Sal narrates the storry of her best friend, Phoebe Winterbottom. They both share a very similar story; both of their mothers unexpecedly leave their families. Sal meets Phoebe when she and her dad leave their farm in Bybanks and move to Ohio. Phoebe and Salamanca manage to find Phoebe's mother. The story continues to switch off between Phoebe's story and Sal's journey with her grandparents. Upon this journey, tragedy strikes and Salamanca must contiue her journey alone. Will Sal ever find her mother?

About the AuthorSharon Creech is an American author of children's novels. She was born in Euclid, Ohio on July 29, 1945. Later in her life, she moved to England, became a teacher, and published a few books. Walk Two Moons was her first book published in America and it received the Newbery Medal. She is married to Lyle Rigg, and they now live in Maine.

Gramps"Gramps" is Sal's Grandfather (Sal's dad's father). Gramps is brave, courageous, and very humorous. Towards the end of the book, tragedy strikes and he does what he thinks is the right thing, but not something that every other grandpa would do.

PhoebePhoebe is Sal's best friend. She is very curious, inconsiderate, and likes to stretch the truth. She and Sal go on a journey to find her mother, who unexpecedly left Phoebe, her dad, and her sister.

SalamancaSal is very enthusiastic and a great story teller. She is very adventurous but finds it hard to trust people. In the story, Sal tries to find her mother before her mother's birthday.
