3 types of volcanoes

A volcano is an opening, or rupture, in a planet's surface or crust, which allows hot magma, volcanic ash and gases to escape from below the surface. They are generally found where tectonic plates are diverging or converging.

At the subduction zone, the heavier oceanic plate gets consumed beneath the continential plate, causing mantle rocks to melt. As the mantle rocks melt they form magma which pools. Because the magma is denser than the surrounding mantle material, it will rise. Pressure in the magma cracks the overlying rocks, injecting magma into the crack. Magma that has reached the surface is called lava. The molten magma then cools down and solidifies to form a cone-shaped volcano.

Active volcanoes; Recent eruptions & predicted to have in future. Dormant volcaones; Not erupted for a long time but could still erupt in near future. Extinct volcanoes; No record of eruptions
