Lava!
You may think it's crazy how people live near volcanoes, but the people who do live near them, believe the advantages of living near a volcano overtakes the disadvantages.
Eruptions!
Volcanoes
When the Earth's crust melts, magma is formed. Magma builds up high-pressure fast, and needs somewhere to escape, and the hole at the top of a volcano is the easiest place to do this. This is called a volcanic eruption. When magma and rock bursts out of a volcano, it's called lava.
Volcanologists use many different tools to measure volcanic eruptions, such as seimometres!
