The crops they grow inin Virginia were tobaccoand corn. Tobacco was plated by John Rolfe, tobacco was a important cash crop in Virginia because it got them alot of profit for the colony.

Geography and Climate Virginia is swampy and is flat with many rolling hills. The Peedmont is a land of large rolling hills. Today oaktrees still grow in the Peedmont. Many animals still live in the Peedmont, some of the animals are deer,raccoons and squirrels. The tide water is a low and flat area. This part of the state is filled with swamps, creeks, and rivers.In the lakes and rivers there are muskrats, beavers and turtles.the highest point in virginia is 5,729 ft. throughout the season the climate stays mild. Virginia is a a hot and humid area. The tempature from the lowest to the highest is 26 to 86 degreee fahrenheit.

Hello my name is George Washington, I was the first president in the year of 1789 to 1797. I was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia. I died on december 14, 1799, in Mount Vernon, Virginia. Tourists now visit my home to see how wealthy people lived when the country was young.

King James the first, granted the Virginia company a charter to settle in Virginia. There, they later brought people to Virginia to settle. John Smith was the protector of the settlers. Instead of planting crops the colonist were looking for gold. John Smith also made the colonists to build houses and plant crops. John Smith said, " He that will not work shall not eat." Virginia was the first pernament english settlement in America.

JobsSome of the jobs in Virginia in the year of 1607 were wigmaking, barbors, blacksmith, fishers,merchant, and planting crops. Because Virginia had good soil, that helped them grow crops better.

GovernmentTodays goverment of Virginia is different than it used to be. Today there is three different parts of the goverment. The three types are Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The capital of Virginia is Richmont.

Way of LifeMost colonists made their own clothes, grew their own food, and built their own homes. When colonists were working they also played games like corn husking competition, quilting bees, and foot races. Many colonists made their own furniture or did without.

Slavery in Virginia In 1705 Virginia passed the slave codes, and the captive africans were caught in the perament system. Slave codes were rules to keep enslaved african americans under control. The captives were not allowed to study their religion, marry, read, write,or own property. If an enslaved african was killed by the owner the owner would not be punished. It was unlawful if a slave ecaped in any way.

The Northern Cardinal is the state bird of Virginia.
