Uranium is in the Actinide family and is mainly radioactive. It has sixteen isotopes which are all radioactive and reactive. Due to this, it is a very reactive element. It is not man made it relatively plentiful on earth, 30 times more so than silver. It is found by mining.

How it's used
Uranium is of great importance as a nuclear fuel. Nuclear fuels are used to generate electrical power, to make isotopes, and to make weapons. Much of the internal heat of the earth is thought to be due to the presence of uranium and thorium. Uranium is also used in inertial guidance devices, in gyro compasses, as counterweights for aircraft control surfaces, as ballast for missile reentry vehicles, and as a shielding material.
Uranium was discovered by Martin Heinrich Klaproth, a German chemist, in 1798 while treating minerals. While he was working, he came across a fine black powder, which he then discovered was Uranium.
One pound of completely fissioned uranium has the fuel value of over 1,500 tons of coal.Uranium was the prime ingredient in the first atomic bomb, code named "Little Boy"
