United States of America
The United States Depression began in 1929. It was mainly caused by an impact of World War I and the effect the war had on the European economy. War-induced inflation became a huge problem for European countries.
FDR created the New Deal which had programs also known as the "Alphabet Agencies". These were made to help escape the Great Depression.
We didn't really change from Capitalism during the Great Depression. Many people did bring up the idea of switching but it was never really greatly considered.
Herbert Hoover was President from 1929-1933.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was President from 1933-1945.
