Stowe wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin partially while living in Brunswick, ME and partially in Andover, MA from June 1851 through April 1852.

Uncle Tom's Cabin was published on Mar 20, 1852

The importance of this book was great. This is because of how it changed the people's view of slavery.

(Only watch the first 30 seconds, if for a quick explanation)

President Lincoln greeted Stowe as, "the little woman who wrote the book that made this great war.”

Stowe wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin because she thought owning slaves was a "violation of the great law which commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves"
