Martin Luther King Jr. Day!- August 2, 1983, a bill was passed creating a public holiday in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Columbus Day!- October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus arrived in America.

Thanksgiving!- The first Thanksgiving was held in 1621.- The Plymouth colonists and Wanpanoag Indians held an annual harvest feast.- For more than two centuries, days of Thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states.- In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

Labor Day!- Celebrated the 1st Monday in September.- Dedicated to the achievements of American workers.- The first state bill was introduced in New York, but the first law was passed by Oregon in 1887.
