Tyrannosaurus Rex

T-Rex FactfileThe Tyrannosaurus Rex (meaning 'tyrant lizard king') was one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs of all time. The average T-Rex was about 40 feet (12 meters) long and about 15 to 20 feet (4.6 to 6 meters) tall. The T-Rex's skull is about 5 feet long - that's taller than you! The T-Rex lived in forests in North America during the Cretaceous period. It became extinct about 65 million years ago.Fossils suggest that the T-Rex had a very accute sense of smell, as well as hawk-like vision and sensetive hearing. Not much chance for its prey!
