10 Types of Weather Types

Weather is an extrodinary part of our Earth and is important to all living things. There are so many types of weather phenomenons. I am going to give you information about ten different weather types and how they form.

Warm ocean water provides energy for a hurricane and causes more evaporation making humid air and clouds. Winds then force air upward and flow outward above the storm allowing the air below to rise. Humid air then rises making the clouds of the storm. Light winds outside the hurricane steer the hurricane and let it grow.

Tornadoes form when cold, dry air blows over the Northern great Plains and combines with warm, moist air from the South. The warm air spirals upward explosively forming a tornado.

Dust storms happen in a dry area where loose dirt and dust particles can easily be picked up. The wind picks up these loose particles into the air and forms a dust storm.

Sleet forms in a layer of freezing air. The snow falls and melts as it goes through the warmer layer of air. It then refreezes on the way down forming icepelets (sleet.)

Lightening occurs when negative charges sink to the bottom of the cloud. Positive charges rise from the ground to the clouds. When these meet BAM! lightening occurs.

Fog is a cloud that comes in contact with the ground. Fog appears when humidity approaches 100%. Water vapor condenses on tiny particles suspended in the air to form small water droplets.

Wind is air in motion. When the sun heats one part of the atmosphere differently than the other. This causes expnsion of warmer air. This makes less pressure where it is warmthan where it is cooler. This is how wind is formed.

Snow forms when temperatures drop and moisture in the form tiny ice crystals These ice crystals collide and stick together becoming snowflakes. These become heavy enough to descend to the ground.

Rain forms when clouds get big enough and have alot of water droplets within them. When the water droplets get heavy thy fall to the ground because of gravity.

Thunderstorm upsrfts are strong enigh to carry water droplets above the freezing level. The freezing proccess forms a hailstone. This hailstone will grow on its way down to the ground as additional water freezes onto it.
