Types of Cells

Prokaryotic & Eurkaryotic Cells:Similarities:1. Contains DNA2. Has a membrane bound3. Contain RibsomesDifferences:1.Eurkaryoitc has a nucleus and Prokaryotic does not.2. The organelles of eukaryotes allow them to exhibit much higher levels of intracellular division of labor than is possible in prokaryotic cells.3. Eukaryotic cells are, on average, ten times the size of prokaryotic cells.

Plant and Animal Cells:1. Animal Cells do not contain a cell wall like a plant cell.2. Plant Cells contain a chloroplast and animal cells do not. 3. In animal cells, lysosomes occur in cytoplasm. In plant cells, lysosomes are usually not evident.

Cell Membrane: support, protection of the cell.Nucleus: controls cell activites.Nuclear Membrane: surrounds nucleus, controlsmovement of materials in and out of the nucleus.Endoplasmic Reticulum(E.R): carries materials through the cell.Ribosome: Produces proteins.Lysosome: breaks down larger food molecules into smaller molecules.Cell wall: only in plant cell, support and protectionCytoplasm: only in plant cell, supports/protectscell organelles.
