Type 1 Diabetes is usually diegnosed to children and young adults. Of the two types less than 5% of people have Type 1. When a person has this type of diabetes than they do not produce insuliun. This is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. When a person has Type 1 Diabetes their body attacks the healthy cells that would normally protect the body and defend it against invaders. This means that the body is attacking itself instead.

CostEvery year 14.9 billion dollars are attributed to the health care for Type 1 Diabetes. Insulin alone only costs around $100 or under. Blood glucose meters can cost also up to $100 depending on the efficiency.

Symptoms and RiskSymptoms can include; increased thirst and frequent urination, extreme hunger, weight loss, fatigue, and blurred vision.Risk factors can be many things such as; family history, genetics, viral, geography
