According to the data provided by TuvaLabs.com, the energy used in Texas every year has increased by 695,763 billion btus over the last 30 years. Texans are making a dent in those numbers though. From 1990 to 2000 Texans used an increase of 377,862 billion btus. But from 2000-2011 their consumption only increased by 179,401 billion btus.

Reducing the data for a healthier Texas

Energy Consumption in Texas

Did you know that Texas is the leading state in wind power production?Did you know that solar energy is the Earth’s most available energy resource because it can be found anywhere the sun shines? Did you know that hydropower is the cheapest renewable energy source in the US?Did you know that a campfire produces biomass energy through the burning of wood?

We used Tuvalabs.com's data points to determine if Texas's energy use is improving or getting worse. We had to add, subtract, compare, and predict changes in these numbers. We researched ways that Texans could reduce the numbers with greener choices for energy. This glog shows what we did and what we discovered.

What is a btu???

Between 2000 and 2005, Texas energy consumption only increased 46,528 billion btus. Our Mission: To educate others to reduce future consumption to less than 40,000 billion btus over the next 5 years.
