Background

Education in Turkey is governed by a national system which was established in accordance with the Atatürk Reforms after the Turkish War of Independence. It is a state-supervised system designed to produce a skillful professional class for the social and economic institutes of the nation.According to the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, every citizen has the right to education which is free of charge for the compulsory primary education. Except in specially licensed and foreign institutions, Turkish must be taught as the mother tongue. Since 2012, twelve years of education is compulsary for boys and girls, which can be divided into 4+4+4 years of schooling.

Teacher education:Training of pre-primary and primary/basic school teachersPrimary school teachers are trained in universities where they must obtain a Lisans Diplomasi.Training of secondary school teachersSecondary school teachers are trained in universities where they must obtain a Lisans Diplomasi.Training of higher education teachersAccording to the Higher Education Law higher education institutions are responsible for the training of their own academic staff, both at home and abroad. There are various criteria for the promotion of teaching staff members.-A well designed and well written CV -A TEFL teaching certificate, ideally a CELTA but minimum 120 hour online course -A university degree-Outstanding interview skills*NB* I couldn't justify putting this in the minimum requirements list but it is worth noting that having a residence permit is a huge advantage.

Pre-Primary education: Pre-Primary education is an optional education for children between 3-5 years of age. Primary Education: With a new Law in 2012, four years of Elementary school + four years of Middle school is compulsory today. Secondary Education: Secondary education is compulsory for four years and covers general, vocational and technical high schoolsHigher Education: Is optional. Turkish universities are Republican institutions. Universities, faculties, institutes, higher education schools, conservatories, vocational higher education schools, police and military academies and colleges, and application-research centers are considered as Higher Education institutions.
