sThe tundra includes northern parts of Canada and the state of Alaska. The tundra is a cold barren wasteland that includes snow, rocks and very little variety in vegetation. The tundra is about 3,000,000 sq miles long and covers 20% of earth's surface. It is notable for having the longest winter and shortest summer.
Arctic Fox
The tundra is home to a variety of animals like caribou, arctic foxes, white wolves, grizzly bears, bald eagles and squirrels. Because of migration and hibernation; however, it may be hard to find them during winter. Two popular animals are the pika and polar bear. The animals in tundra have special adaptations that allow them to survive the extreme temperatures and conditions present in the tundra. For example, the artic fox has short ears, and a round body with a thick coat to minimize the amount of skin exposed to the frigid air.
