The tropical dry forest biome is home to many varieties of plant life, animals, insects and bacteria. The tropical dry forest is somewhat like the tropical rain forest, but there is really no actual distinction between these biomes. The length of the dry season varies greatly throughout the tropics. One biome usually changes into the other over hundreds of miles.
This biome is spread out around the globe. The places that have been recognized in having tropical dry forests are India, Indochina, W. Africa, W. Madagascar, Chile, Southern Africa, S. America, north and south of the Amazon, Central America, W. Indies, and N. Australia.
A wet/dry tropical climate due to seasonal alternation between dominance of the moist air during the summer and dry air masses during the winter solstice.
Because of this seasonal alternation, a large soil-water shortage occurs, especially severe during the hottest time prior to a large rain storm.
There is high and low pressure systems on the continental interior.
The extreme peak of rainfall is during the high-sun period. (June through July)
And well developed dry seasons run the time of the low-sun period. (December through March)

The annual amount of rainfall 150-200 cm.
Since these forests are suitable for agriculture, most of them have been burned to make room for farmlands.
