Trojan Horse

The Trojans were so relieved, they celebrated by getting drunk and eventually falling asleep. At night, the Greeks came out of the horse through a trap door. Soon afterward they opened the gate to let in more soldiers. They slaughtered all of the men and took the women and children as slaves. The Greeks, after ten years, had finally conquered the Trojans.

Only one soldier, Sinon, was left behind outside of the horse. When the Trojans arrived, Sinon pretended to be angry, but this was all part of the plan. He assured the Trojans that the horse was safe and was a gift from the goddess Athena. Laocoon and Cassandra, spoke out against the horse. However, Cassandra had made mistakes in the past, and Laocoon and his son were killed by snakes, so the Trojans took in the horse.

The Trojan Horse was a wooden horse used in order to invade the city of Troy. The Greek king Odysseus had ordered for this horse to be built by the artist Epeius. It was built to be hollow so that soldiers could fit inside. Once it was built, Greek soldiers, along with Odysseus, hid inside the horse. The rest of the Greeks sailed away, so the Trojans would be fooled.
