The Treaty of Paris, signed on September 3, 1783
Treaty Of Paris 1783
Benjamin Franklin went to Paris to try and make this treaty to have an alliance to help them win the war
The treaty of 1783 ended the American Revolution (1775-1783). The treaty recognized the independence of the United States and established the new nation's borders. United States territory at that time extended west to the Mississippi River, north to Canada, east to the Atlantic Ocean, and south to about Florida. Britain gave Florida back to Spain. The treaty also granted the Americans fishing rights off Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.
