What is a tracheostomy?
Why would someone need a tracheostomy?
Trachs can be temporary or permanent.Endotrachial tube (ET) is less comfortable than the tracheostomy tube. When trach is no longer needed, tube can be removed and the stoma (opening) will close. Some may need surgical intervention but that rarely happens. The trach tubes come in different sizes.
