Mathematic concepts:The tower started tilting shortly after it was built. Engineers calculated that it will move 24 inches every year. They came up with a solution to add steel cables on the non-leaning side. The steel cables reduces 17 inches of the leaning.

They had to stop construction a few times due to war, and debt during that time engineers worked on coming up with a solution for the tilt.. Why was it built? How was it created? The Leaning Tower of Pisa was built as the churches bell tower. The Pisans attacked the island of Sicily in 1063. The attack was successful so they decided to build something to show how important they are. So they decided to build a cathedral, baptistery, bell tower and, cemetery.
