Tornadoes

This video features the largest tornado ever recorded. It shows when/how they predicted it and shows the story of a man. He helped the animals, and some people.

Quick Fact:You can only predict a tornado a few minutes before.

To Predict a Tornado~Usually there is a dark, greenish, sky. There might be rain or hail. Right before a tornado strikes the wind may become very calm. They usually strike in the afternoon between 3 and 9 pm.

Dictionary definition of a tornado~a mobile, destructive vortex of violently rotating winds having the appearance of a funnel-shaped cloud and advancing beneath a large storm system.

Most tornadoes form from thunderstorms. There has to be warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and cool, dry air from Canada. When these two air masses meet, they create instability in the atmosphere and therefore a tornado forms.

Tornadoes can last to about 1-2 hours or 4 hours, in extreme cases, and can be as tall as 75 feet.
