What to do before a tornado:* Practice safety drills frequently. * Have a plan for you and your family for home* Have a Weather Radio with a warning alarm tone and battery backup to receive warnings* Know the name of your city and county* Keep a map handy so your can track the movement of the storm* Have an emergency kit that also include food, fresh water, a change of clothes and flashlghts. Also keep other supplies on hand.* Listen to radio or television for the latest information.

What to do during a tornado:* Move to a shelter such as a basement or storm cellar. * If an underground shelter is not available, move to a small, interior room or hallway on the lowest floor.* Don't seek shelter in buildings with large expanse roofs, such as malls, auditoriums, gymnasiums, or cafeterias. * Stay away from windows.* Get under a strong piece of furniture. * Don't take shelter in a car or truck* Don't stay in a mobile home or camper* If you can't find shelter when outside, lie flat in a ditch or low spot.* Do not seek shelter under highway bridges or overpasses.
