Tigers

Most Tigers live in Asia, specifically throughout Southeast Asia, China, Korea and Russia. Tigers like to live in swamps, grasslands,and rainforests. Usually where Tigers live there are trees, bushes, and clumps of tall grass.

Tigers mainly eat ambar deer, wild pigs, water buffalos and antelopes. Tigers are also known to hunt sloth bears, dogs, leopards, crocodiles and pythons as well as monkeys and hares.

The tiger has nine subspecies. Three of these are already extinct. Subspecies of the tiger include the Sumatran Tiger, Siberian Tiger, Bengal Tiger, South China Tiger, Malayan Tiger and Indochinese Tiger.

- They may be big and heavy, but tigers are by no means slow movers. In fact, at full speed they can reach up to 65km/h! - These fierce felines have walked the earth for a long time. Fossil remains of tigers found in parts of China are believed to be 2 million years old. Yikes!- Every tiger in the world is unique - no two tigers have the same pattern of stripes.

Description

Tigers have muscular bodies with powerful limbs. They have large heads and long tails. Their stripes help them camouflauge in long grass. The oldest captive tiger lived for 26 years. Tigers can reach a length of up to 3.3 metres and weigh as much as 300 kilograms.
