There are three main parts in a "Tidal Barrage Energy"; First is the barrage which holds back high tides. The second part is the sluice gates that lets the water go through. The third part is the turbine which is placed under the barrage, and when water goes through it, it turns the turbines, which creates electricity.

Tidal stream energy is similar to wind turbines except they are under water. The turbine and generator converts the movement of water coming form change in tide (the KINETIC energy) into electricity.

Water is 832 times denser that air, which means that it can generate more electricity at lower speeds than wind turbines.

Dynamic Tidal PowerWe are still developing `Dynamic Tidal Energy`. What that is, is a combination of "Tidal Stream Energy" and "Tidal Barrage Energy". What Dynamic Tidal Power will do is that, it will expose tidal flows and their interactions between potential and kinetic energy.

Tidal energy or tidal power can be defined as the energy that is the result of the moon and the sun’s gravitaional influence on the ocean.

450 TWh amount of energy is estimated to be generated yearly just from Tidal Energy.

On an average, a 2- story home uses about 18,000 KWh, and Tidal energy produces about 450 TWh (450000000000 KWh) so yearly, tidal energy can give power to about 2.5 million homes. Knowing this, we should use and continue using tidal energy to supply renewable energy.

The world's first large-scaled tidal energy project was the La Rance tidal power station. It was opened in 1966. This power station is located in north- western France in a river called Rance. This is an example of Tidal Barrage Energy. La Rance has 24 turbines and generated up to 240 MW. It's annual production is up to 0.6 TWh, and it's daily production is 68 MWh.
