You can come on to the island from both sides of the Tiber River by using the Ponte Cestio or the Ponte Fabricio.

The island was first used to isolate/abandon people with disease.

The island became a place to treat sick people.

The Ponte Fabricio is one of the oldest surviving bridge in Rome.

Legend- a serpent from Aesculepius's original temple came and choseTiber Island as a place for a new temple.

A temple was built for Aesculepius- god of medicine and healing.

Location- southern bend of Tiber River.
