Thunderstorms form within large cumulonimbus clouds, or thunderheads. Most cumulonimbus clouds and thunderstorms form when warm air is forced up a cold front.

Thunderstroms are heavy rainstroms accompanied by thunder and lightning.

How does it form?

Thunderstorms can bring heavy rains (which can cause flash flooding), strong winds, hail, lightning, and tornadoes.

What are the effects?

When a thunderstorm threatens, get inside a home or large building, or inside an all-metal (not convertible) vehicle. Avoid using the telephone, except for emergencies. Get out of and away from open water and metal farm equipment.
